Our Aims

Cancer is a Drag do not believe that people and their families living with cancer should suffer from the additional burden of financial hardship, feel alone or experience added stress from other causes.

With this in mind, our main aim is to provide financial support where it is most needed, freeing up our beneficiaries to deal with the disease and its treatments – to stop cancer being any more of a drag than it already is – a much needed resource unfortunately not that readily available elsewhere.

Most people and their families living with cancer will usually, at some point, suffer financial hardship as an additional burden due to the nature of the cancer and its treatment. Long periods of sick leave from work are needed and people rarely have ill-health insurance or savings to support them.

This can cause severe anxiety and stress at a time when it is really difficult to deal with. All energy and resources are needed to concentrate on fighting the disease, dealing with the intense treatment and the severity of the diagnosis – not how to pay the next bill or how to put food on the table!

This is where Cancer is a Drag would like to ‘STEP IN’ and offer help!

Other Support We Give

We also aim to support other similar charities, such as Macmillan, and hospital wards, hospices and the like, to help provide better and enhanced facilities, treatment and care for people living with cancer.
